ALT-ELK

ALT-ELK, is Alternatif Yazılım's complete automation solution for electricity distribution utilities. Main functions include Customer Information System (CIS), Accounting, Human Resources, Materials Management, Outage management, Web Based Customer Services, Interactive Voice Responce (IVR).

Software development has started in Agust 1997. It is currently in use at Istanbul Asian Side Electricity Distribution Company (AYEDAŞ) (about 1.700.000 customers) and Istanbul European Side Electricity Distribution Company (BEDAŞ) (about 3.400.000 customers). ALT-ELK manages Turkey's largest utilities in size of customer numbers and electricity consumption. Correspond to 1/4 of Turkey's total electicity distribution in consumption.

The software platform is ANSI/ISO C programming language and Embedded SQL. Implementations run on Oracle DBMS, but portable to any RDBMS conforming the standards. Currently implemented on Tru-64 UNIX and AIX in 64-bit mode, and possible to run 64-bit UNIX variants and Linux 32-bit/64-bit

Application software utilizes system resources so efficiently that these high volume installations use servers that can be purchased between 50.000$ - 100.000$. Using more than one server on different locations for disaster recovery has been implemented, using either online replication and standby database.

The software has been also applied for water utilities and in use at municipal owned Gaziantep Water Distribution Authority.

Currently planned to apply software for gas utilities.
